A Little History of Pizza
In 1889, during Queen Margherita of Savoy’s visit to Naples, Chef Esposito created a pizza in her honor using basil, mozzarella, and tomato symbolizing Italy’s flag. This dish, now known as Margherita Pizza, brought pizza from obscurity into the spotlight. It became a symbol of national pride and culinary identity, marking a defining moment in Italian food history and forever changing how the world would see and enjoy pizza.
